About the author

Shari Tvrdik, a self-proclaimed soccer mom, became a missionary in 2009 to those suffering from poverty-related issues in Mongolia. Ironically, it was the suffering poor she hoped to save in some way that, in turn, saved her. It was there in Mongolia that God ruined and re-invented her into a woman of deep faith and passion for Jesus. During her eight years of missionary work in Mongolia, Shari had the privilege of advising Desert Rose, a shelter for street girls, and working alongside her husband Troy Tvrdik as he directed an NGO, Flourishing Future. The two accidentally planted a church in an unreached community and discovered the gems of growth God had laid out for them all along the mission journey. Now back in the United States, Shari works as executive director of Cup of Cold Water Ministries, where she facilitates sending fifty-four missionaries to seventeen nations. Troy and Shari have been married for thirty-three years. They are the parents to four beautiful souls and are grandparents to four perfect humans. Shari is a speaker and author of two books: Swimming In Awkward. a memoir, and One Baby for the World: 24 Days of Advent From a Missions Perspective
